6 generations of Farming

Edgewood Farm is a 6th generation, family-ran certified "Century Farm". Not only has our family changed over the past couple of decades, but so has our product. In the late 1800s, our farm, like most other farms of the era, was a mix of cattle, chickens, and other small animals.

This eventually transitioned into a dairy operation. Up until the 1950s, Edgewood Farm produced milk for our family, community, and regional distributors Biltmore Dairy, Dairyman’s Incorporated, and Sealtest. During the 1950s, the farm transitioned into a combination of beef and dairy farm.

The beef operation has grown into present-day operations. Edgewood Farm started growing tobacco in 1975 on about 27 acres. For about 5 years in the 1990s, our farm grew organic herbs, tomatoes, and other vegetables.

Currently, operations on Edgewood Farm include a diverse product selection. Our beef cattle are the majority of our income, raising around 20 heads of cattle for purchase each year. We have approximately 130 free-range laying hens, 65 meat chickens, and a couple of pigs. We raise hay for feed and sell to local customers. We also grow sorghum to make molasses.

Benefits from our farm are far-reaching. Because of us, our community can find quality products at competitive prices.
